Cargo Theft Prevention

Help protect your freight and yourself through proper planning and by following these simple steps:

    Be aware of high-theft areas.
Drive at least 4 hours and 150 miles or more after pickup before stopping.
Use a pad lock after seal is applied. Also apply another seal on vent door to keep thieves from peeking into your trailer.
Have a friend or another Landstar BCO keep an eye on your truck while you are in truck stop.

When you stop to fuel or rest:

Use kingpin and trailer locks to protect your equipment and an air-cuff lock to guard your truck every time you stop.
Be aware. Pay close attention to both vehicles and people at truck stops. You and your truck are most vulnerable the first 30 minutes you walk away from your truck.
Park under lights whenever possible. Thieves usually avoid well-lit areas.
Don’t leave a spare set of keys in cup holder or ashtray – hide them or take them with you.
If possible, back your trailer against a fence, door or wall. Trailer break-ins are common in some areas of the country.

A LOAD AT REST IS A LOAD AT RISK!
